GreenGlycols® uses vegetable glycerin as feedstock for the production of bio-based propylene glycol. The residual flow has a plant based orgin.
The residual flow of glycerin meets the sustainability requirements of the EU and the Netherlands. It is in fact a residual flow of vegetable origin. All suppliers must meet the requirements of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) (https://rsb.org/)
This certificate proves that the biobased raw material has no harmful effects on biodiversity and other environmental aspects or that it competes with the food supply
The SER adviced in its report “Biomassa in Balans” that liquid biomass such as glycerin can be regarded as sustainable biomass.
GHG calculation performed by an independent third party Scape International (www.scape-int.com) in joint consultation with the world renowned IFEU Institute (www.ifeu.de) in Heidelberg showed that our GreenGlycol® product provide a reduction of carbon footprint of 75-89%. In absolute figures, this is approximately 7 kg CO2 equivalents per kg GreenGlycol®. Our total production contribute to a carbon footprint reduction of 280,000 tons annually.
